PRICE OF WOOL

l{l THE 15 PER CENT RISE CONFERENCE WITH MINISTER. DECISION OF GROWERS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A conference of woolgrowers with the Minister of Agriculture, Mr Barclay, in Wellington yesterday, passed the following resolutions: — “This conference cannot agree to the suggestion that the stabilisation of wool prices for domestic consumption within -New Zealand at the existing price level should be a charge on woolgrowers only, and considers that any such action would be an injustice to growers who, if the suggestion made is carried through, would be charged with the full cost of such stabilisation for the benefit of the community as a whole. Such a deviation from established principles cannot be justified, but woolgrowers are quite prepared to bear their share of the cost of such stabilisation equally with other sections of the community.” “That this meeting, representing woolgrowers from all parts of New Zealand, rejects the proposal to make deductions of any kind from the 15 per cent increase in wool price granted by the British Government to Nev; Zealand woolgrowers, to cover increases in production costs and expect payment to woolgrowers in full in terms of the contract with the British Government for the commandeer period.”
