Mr W. J. Spencer has been appointed producers’ representative on the New Zealand' Poultry Board. The engagement is announced of Robina Josephine Cameron, eldest daughter of the Rev. and Mrs A. T. Thompson, “Sherwood,” Upper Plain, to Corporal Donald Stuart, elder son of Mr and Mrs R. A. Cameron, “Waitoi,” Dryer’s Rock. General Hurley, American Minister, left by air yesterday for Christchurch where he will be extended a civic reception tomorrow. He will return by air tomorrow afternoon.. He was accompanied by the military attache, Colonel J. EL Nankivell, and the third Secretary of the Legation, Mr J. E. Horner. The Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, yesterday visited Levin and the following towns in the Wairarapa: — Fahiatua, Eketahuna, Masterton, Carterton, Greytown and Featherston. He expressed his admiration of the manner in which civic authorities were tackling their misfortune, and of the assistance which the Army was giving wherever possible. At the annual meeting of the Wellington Employers’ Association the following officers were elected: President, Mr W. McLay; vice-presidents, Messrs Percy Coyle and J. M. Fleming; executive, Messrs W. H. Ballinger, E. D. Barber, H. Buckingham, E. E. Brooking, W. Burton, F. Campbell.. W. S. Cederholm, A. J. Curtis, W. A. Fisher, W. Gee-Taylor L. Goldfinch, W. F. Graham. H. E. Guise, G. K. Hansard, A. R. Hislop, E. F. Hollands, F. G. Johnson, M. J. Kennedy, V. E. Larcomb, F. W. Moore, W.'Parkin, L. Stewart, B. Sutherland, and D. H. Taylor; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. J. Mountjoy.
