Home Guard Parade Cancelled. The parade of the C Company, Home Guard, which was to have been held tonight has been cancelled. Donation to Blind Institute, A Jersey heifer donated to the New Zealand Institute for the Blind by Mr J. Hudson, “Waimimi,” realised the sum of £5 at the Masterton stock sale yesterday. Air Training Corps. All parades called for the No. 2 Squadron of the Air Training Corps Masterton, for tonight and during the weekend have been cancelled. The next parade will be on Monday evening. Gigantic Fish Ladder. The erection of a gigantic fish ladder around Hell’s Gate on the Fraser River (British Columbia) has been proposed. A land-slide many years ago transformed this narrow passage of the Fraser River into a boiling barrier, obstructing the return of the salmon to what was once the greatest spawning grounds in the world. The International Fisheries Commission is recommending to the governments of Canada and United States that a channel be cut through the solid rock to allow the fish to by-pass the gate altogether.
