WAIRARAPA TIMES=AGE THURSDAY, JUNE 25, 1942. AN UNWANTED ADDITION
In these times of stress, the destructive earthquake which shook the southern part of the North Island last night and appears to have been at its worst m the Wairarapa, will cause even more serious trouble and inconvenience than s’milar visitations have caused in the past. The results that remain from this rather disastrous experience make a call cu the courage and resolution of members of the community individually and obviously also official and community action will be necessary in order that necessary repairs and replacements and the restoration of extensive services may be expedited. The reconstruction of chimneys in itself presents a problem calling for methodical treatment. On account of the interruption of telegraphic and other communications, it has been impossible to maintain our normal news services and we must appeal to oui' readers to look lightly on the shortcomings of our current issue. Every effort will be made to get back to a normal standard of news service as soon as possible.
