WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATIONS SATURDAY’S GAMES. IMPROVEMENT IN PLAY. With weather conditions ideal and the grounds in perfect order good hockey was witnessed at Lansdowne on Saturday by a large attendance of spectators. Some very keenly contested games were played by the men’s teams. These teams are showing improvement each Saturday. The ladies’ senior games were both fairly one-sided, but the junior contests were keenly fought. RESULTS AT A GLANCE Men. No. 2 team 4. No. 3 team 2. No. 4 team 7, No. 8 team 2. No. 5 team 3. The game between Kia Ora and Excelsior produced some good hockey at times,, but Excelsior were always superior in. attack and defence and combined much better-than their opponents. Kia Ora played well all through, the game and although defeated, by a good margin, were never discouraged but kept fighting till the finish. Individually this is a fair team but lack leadership and combination.
