VAST EXPANSION
IN AIR FERRY SERVICE. PREDICTED BY AMERICAN GENERAL. (Bj’ Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) WASHINGTON, June 20. Brigadier-General George, chief of the Army ferrying command, in a speech at a convention of aviation writers, predicted that the ferrying service would ultimately expand into a giant organisation 10 times greater than all the peace time air lines throughout the world. He said the foreign routes alone measured one or two times the distance round the earth, while the domestic services were greater in pilots, planes and stations than the entire army air corps four years ago. Many stations at home and abroad would require accommodation for 100 planes each. General George related an occasion when General MacArthur needed 20001 b. of small parts for maintaining planes. The parts were assembled on the Pacific coast and landed in Australia 2 days 12 hours later.
