The House of Representatives passed the naval appropriation of 8550 million dollars after the Naval Committee had reported that the completion of this would give the United States unquestioned sea. superiority. The measure envisages the greatest naval shipbuilding in history. The chairman of the committee, Mr Vinson, disclosed that the Navy is converting many merchantmen into air-craft-carriers as fast as is humanly possible.
