BOY SCOUTS MEETING OF CITIZENS’ COMMITTEE. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr A. Paterson presided over a meeting of the Boy Scouts Citizens’ Committee which was held in the “Times-Age” officq last evening. Mr H. T. Ray submitted a statement concerning the weekly card parties, a satisfactory credit balance being shown. The question of the Cub Movement was discussed. The decision in regard to ’the control of the Cubs, as Miss Eagle had left the district, was left over till the next meeting. In the meantime the Scoutmaster and two senior scouts would take charge of the Cubs. Mr Fairbrother, Scoutmaster, was given authority to form an Air Scout troop in Carterton. He was appointed group scoutmaster. It was resolved that the next meeting be held on Tuesday, July 7, and that the annual meeting take place on Monday, July 13, and that District Commissioner R. N. Barton be invited to be present. The Military Pipe Band wrote asking for the use of the Scout Den for practice purposes. It was resolved that the Band be allowed the use of the building until 4 o’clock each afternoon.
SOLDIERS ENTERTAINED EXCELLENT PROGRAMME. Men of the armed forces were entertained at a concert last evening, when members of the MatarawaDalefield Women’s Institute presented a most enjoyable programme. The audience encored each item. Another concert will be given later on. Football. A meeting of the Wairarapa Rugby Football Union Management Committee will be held in Carterton tonight when business of an important nature will be transacted. Birthday Party. Members of the Carterton branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union will hold a birthday party on Friday next in the .Masonic Hall. Members are asked to provide a plate. A Heavy Fog. After nine days of very wet weather Carterton this morning was enveloped for some hours in a very heavy fog. REGENT THEATRE “ONE NIGHT IN LISBON.” Fred Mac Murray, Madeleine Carroll, Billie Burke and Patricia Morrison head the cast in the outstanding comedy, “One Night in Lisbon,” which will be shown tonight.
