patriotic society “GAMES NIGHT.” (“Times-Age” Special.) The fortnightly “games night conducted by the Patriotic Society was held on Satueday evening. The winners in the cards were: Men, Mr J. H. McDonald; ladies, Mrs R. Low. In the aggregate, the ladies’ prize donated by Mirs G. Higginson was won by Mrs R Low, and in the men’s aggregate Mr J. H. McDonald was the winner, the prize being donated by Mrs G. Higginson. The ladies’ consolation prize donated by Mrs Hull was won by Mrs Johnson and the men’s by Mr R. Seymour, Mrs Hull being the donor. A competition for a salad set realised £2, the winner being Mr J. McDonald. A parcel of groceries was won by Master V. Payne, the sum of £1 16s 6d being realised by the sale of tickets. The following goods were auctioned by Mr H. Buick:—Goods given by Mrs S. Cooper realised 4s; vegetables donated by Mr C. Leach 18s 2d; cabbage, Mrs F. McLean, 4s lid; ergot collected by school children 6s. The takings for the evening amounted to £7 19s lOd. The hostesses were Mrs and Miss Doyle. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs A. Edmonds are visiting Palmerston North. Mrs Dickie, of Wellington, is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs E. Eagle.
