ENEMY THREAT

IN SOUTHERN PACIFIC SIGNIFICANCE OF ALLIED AIR RAIDS. ATTACKS ON IMPORTANT BASES. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, June 1. Targets chosen for the recent consistent night bombing raids of Allied aircraft have been significant. Enemy shipping at Dili (Portuguese Timor), and Rabaul (New Guinea), and aerodromes at Koepang (Dutch Timor), Lae (New Guinea), and Tulagi (Solomons)), have been attacked in recent nights. All these bases must play an important part in any enemy southward offensive drive designed to take either Port Moresby, or occupy the eastern island chain of the Solomons, New Hebrides and New Caledonia.
