RANGOON BATTERED
BY A/nERICAN HEAVY BOMBERS .JAPANESE TANKER SUNK. OTHERS SEVERELY DAMAGED. LONDON, June 1. From their Indian bases United States heavy bombers have made another smashing attack on Rangoon Harbour. One Japanese tanker was sunk and others severely damaged. All the planes returned, after beating off ten Japanese night fighters. Other planes attacked objectives in Northern Burma. Aircraft on the ground and runways were damaged. In Western Burma the R.A.F. continues to pound Japanese river transport. Enemy steamers and barges on the Chindwin River were smashed and Japanese troops were sent scuttling to cover.
