FEATHERSTON

GOLF SHIELD COMPETITION. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following were the results in the second round of the Shield competition: —H. Lovegrove, score 83, handicap 16, total 67, 1; G. O’Neale, 79, 4, 75, and W. H. Rowles, 78, 3, 75, tied for second place. F’ersonal Items. Mrs Anne Hodder, who died at South Featherston last week, was born at Upper Hutt on September 12, 1858, and was the second daughter of the'late Mr and Mrs James Donald, of Featherston. She came with her parents to the Wairarapa in 1861. She was married in 1881 to the late Mr W. G. Hodder, and since then had' lived at “Torohanga,” South Featherston. Mrs Hodder leaves three daughters, Misses Ida and Letitia Hodder and Mrs G. J. Gain, and six grandchildren. One grandson, Private M. A. Hodder, is serving with the armed forces. Her only son, Norman, predeceased her in 1928, and her husband died in 1940. Mr David Donald, Masterton, is a brother, and Miss Bessie Donald, Featherston, is a sister of the late Mrs Hodder. The sympathy of a large circle of friends will be extended to the bereaved relatives. The funeral was largely attended by relatives and friends from all parts of the district. The services at the house and the graveside were conducted by the Rev. D. McNeur, of Masterton. The pallbearers were Messrs Les and Stan Hodder, Q. Donald, G. J. Gain, Bruce Donald and J. Donald. Miss Joan McKenzie, Wellington, was home for the week-end. Football. The Ist Battalion of the Scottish Regiment defeated A.M.V. in a match in Featherston on Saturday by 11 points to 5. COSY THEATRE “STRANGE CARGO.” The thrilling drama, “Strange Cargo,” featuring Clark Gable and Joan Crawford, will be shown tonight.
