TINUI

WOMEN’S DIVISION ENJOYABLE CHILDREN'S PARTY. (“Times-Age” Special.) A most enjoyable time was' spent in the Tinui Hall last Friday night, the occasion being the annual gathering arranged by the Tinui branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, which this year took the form of a children’s fancy dress dance and concert. The hall was crowded with children and adults. There were over a hundred children present, 33 being in fancy dress. The grand march was led by Mr D. McKay playing on his bagpipes. Then followed the concert programme by Tinui school children who had been skilfully trained by Miss Junkers, assisted by Mrs Beck, who played for the children’s dances and singing. Mr Eccelston (Whakataki School) was of the greatest assistance and the pupils from that school assisted with several songs. Miss Langtree (Whareama School) gave considerable help and four of her pupils contributed recitations, etc. The last item, “There’ll Always be an England” was a most impressive one. Supper was provided and greatly enjoyed by the children. For the adult dances extras were played by Mrs J. Andrew, and Messrs E. Carlen and O’Hara. Special thanks are due to Mr Carlen for having come from Masterton to play for the dancing. The president and members of the Women’s Division expressed their gratitude to the teachers and scholars, Messrs Carlen, McKay, O'Hara and Fly and Savage, who contributed so ably to the success ofthe gathering.
