Several New Zealanders who have arrived are survivors from a ship the Germans bombed in the Arctic regions; They include Able Searhan H. T. Mace, J. T. Mitchell, P. G. Milliner and B. Wallace, all of Auckland; K. Lipanpvic and H. Mollard, North Auckland; B. S. Heal and J. A. Livingstone, Wellington; J. M. Fraser, A. R. Pritchard and W. M. Carson, Dunedin; K. Cochrane and J. Kierman, Christchurch; — Hannan, Oamaru; H. D. Moss, Mew Plymouth, and E. H. G. Lassen, Nelson. During their return to England they helped to remove ice from the decks. It is estimated that the ship once had sixty tons of ice on Her decks and uppier works. Sometimes the sea was warmer than the air, resulting in perpetual, steaming. Destroyers which rescued the crew steamed lip like taxis. . .
