POWER BOARD STAFF

<j, SOLDIER MEMBERS MADE AN ALLOWANCE. DECISION AT ANNUAL MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr Campbell Pearce presided over the annual meeting of the Wdirarapa Electric Power Board at Carterton this morning. There were also present Messrs J. H. Colquhoun, F. C. Daniell, H. C. Hugo, W. Howard Booth, C. Holmes, N. C. C. Shepherd, W. A. Tate, G. W. Hart. The l question of paying an allowance of 5s a week to members of the staff serving With the armed forces was further discussed. On the motion of Mr Daniell, seconded by Mr Holmes, it was decided that this amount be paid to staff apprentices; in the forces as well as to adult members and that a Post Office account be opened for employees under 21 years of age as a trust fund to be operated upon when they return to work. It was decided to supply power free of charge to the Red Cross Society, the Home Guard and Patriotic committees, the matter to be reviewed in six months time. The chairman’s annual report and the secretary-manager’s report were read and adopted. The chairman congratulated Mr Brown upon his comprehensive report which would be a very valuable record in time to come. The secretary-manager was thanked for his report.
