— The Hon. F. Jones, Minister of Defence, left Wellington yesterday for Dunedin. The Hon. J. G. Barclay, Minister of Marketing, returned to Wellington today from Auckland. The Hon. P. C. Webb, Minister of Labour, returned to Wellington yesterday from the north. Mr W. H. Price was unanimously re-elected chairman of the Wellington Harbour Board last night. Mrs Clinton Baddeley, Matakana, North Auckland, is staying with her parents, Mr and Mrs A. T. P. Hubbard, Lansdowne. The Hon. D. G. Sullivan, Minister of Supply, left Wellington yesterday for Dunedin, where he will open the Otago A. and P. Association’s winter showtomorrow. Brigadier-General P. J- Hurley, United States Minister to New ZeaIhnd, left Wellington by air yesterday for Dunedin, where he will be accorded a civic reception tonight. The engagement is announced of Ivie, daughter of Mr J. A. Donald and the late Mrs Donald, of Masterton, to William, son of Mrs E. Parker and the late Mr Parker, West Taratahi. Wing Commander A. H. (“Bill”) Fear, formerly of Masterton, where he was educated at the Lansdowne school and the Wairarapa High School, has been promoted to the rank of Group Captain. He has been serving with the Royal Air Force in England for some time past. The engagement is announced of Marjory Fay, the Sixth daughter of Mr T. B. and the late Mrs Lee, of 81 Dixon Street, Masterton, to Sergeant E. Ronald Wallace, fifth son of Mrs H. and the late Mr Wallace, of Dannevirke.
