Accident at Waingawa.
Fractured ribs were received by Sedgley Bannister, 57, of Donald Street, Masterton, when he fell down a hatchway, a distance of about 14 feet, at the Waingawa Freezing Works this morning. He was admitted io the Masterton Hospital. His condition is reported to be satisfactory.
Wellington War Graves. There have now been 1308 ex-ser-vicemen interred in the soldiers cemetery at Karori. Many others are buried in their own family plots. Ninetyseven were buried in the cemetery during the past year. The columbarium has: 315 niches for the reception of the ashes of servicemen whose remains are cremated. Talk With New Zealanders.
“Drop a couple of extra bombs on Italy for me if you fly over there some time,” said King George of Greece, when he chatted to Sergeant Observer V. B. McKeague, of Masterton, whom he met at an unofficial reception at the Overseas League, reports a London correspondent. The King chatted for several minutes with Sergeant McKeague and Corporal. D. H. Stratton, of Culverden. He told them some of his experiences with the New Zealanders at Crete. He wished, them luck in their life with the R.A.F. in England.
