Government officials announce that the steel output from American mills in 1942 will be twice the maximum amount which the Axis can produce, even with the aid. of Axis-dominated countries. The estimate is that of a consensus of Government experts and leaders of the steel industry. While there will not be a vestige of steel for civilian use, the steel industry will fulfil all war production requirements.
