Mrs James Andrew, lea, has returned home from a visit to Paraparaumu. Miss R. Harrison, Essex Street, Masterton, has been spending a few days at Raumati. The Rev. D. C. Herron has been appointed vice-chancellor of the University of Otago. Mrs C. Collins, Auckland, is staying with her parents, Mr and Mrs E. Collier, Dixon Street, Masterton. Miss Idris Walls, “Braeburn,” Masterton, spent the weekend in Palmerston North with Mrs A. G. Wills. The death occurred, on Sunday at Te Kuiti of Mrs Laura Mason, wife of Mr Thomas George Mason, a former well known resident of Masterton. Mr P. W. Smallfield, superintendent of the Ruakura animal research station, has been appointed superintendent of the Government’s Dominion vegetable growing scheme, with headquarters in Wellington. At the annual meeting of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society last night the following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, his Excellency the Governor-General; president, Mr L. O. H. Tripp; vice-presi-dents, Sir Hubert Ostler, Mr L. G. Reid, Mr E. Kiddiford, and Mr W. H. Field; council, Messrs D. J. Gibbs (chairman), C. E. Aldridge, T. R.Boyes, H. W. Dale, J. S. Fleming, H. Goodwin, E. Gudopp, W. A. R. Jones, W H. Marlin, E. G. Matthews, F. Parkes, P. G. Rhodes, P. G. L. Rochford, A. J. Seed, S. T. Tisdall and Drs. G. F. V. Anson and G. A. Sharp.
