A Moscow communique states: “The Germans on the Kharkov front are disregarding enormous losses and unsuccessfully counter-attacking in an attempt to hold up the Russian offensive. The Russians killed over 700 Germans in one sector alone. “The Russians in one sector on the Leningrad front cut a road between two German strongpoints of resistance and an enemy counter-attack cost him 600 troops. “Russian artillery on the north-west-ern front is pounding the enemy day and night, destroying men and war material.”
