Her Excellency, Lady Newall, presided at the quarterly meeting of the Lady Galway Guild, held at Government House, Wellington, yesterday. The engagement is announced of Peggy Doreen, daughter of Mr and Mrs D. F. Andrews, Essex Street, Masterton, to Hector Selwyn, younger son of Mi’ and Mrs R. McGovern, “Greenhills,” Rangitumau.
Yesterday morning his Excellency the Governor-General received Dr. W. A. Riddell, Canadian High Commissioner. Later his Excellency received Mr J. L. Menzies, Acting Australian Trade Commissioner. *
