HOLIDAY PHOTOS
OF FOREIGN PLACES. TURNED TO WAR ACCOUNT IN BRITAIN. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.55 p.m.) LONDON, May 17. Appealing to the public to send to the Admiralty particulars of photographs of foreign places in their possession a member of the naval staff told how photos taken during a holiday largely contributed to the success of the Brunevalraid. “When every possible source of information about sfhe Bruneval- area had been thoroughly " combed for details,” he said, “we still needed an actual picture of where the German radio location centre was situated and one of the staff officers working on the plan, who had been on holiday in the Bruneval area just before the war, possessed photographs, showing minutely the exact spot involved. Five of those photographs, put together, forged the last link in the whole plan. The Admiralty wants photograph of every inch of coastline and every road, railway, bridge and factory throughout the world.”
