MENTIONED IN TERSE SOVIET REPORT HEAVY ENEMY AIR LOSSES. GERMAN TRANSPORT SUNK IN ARCTIC. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, .1.30 p.m.) RUGBY, May 17. A Soviet communique states: "On May 17, our troops waged offensive fighting and advanced in the Kharkov sector. Stubborn fighting took place in the region of the town of Kerch. Nothing of importance occurred elsewhere. “On May 16, 65 German aeroplanes were destroyed. We lost 20. “Soviet naval units in the Barents Sea sank an enemy transport of 6,000 tons.”
