BODIES RECOVERED
FROM WRECKED PLANE. ARDUOUS TASK COMPLETED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, May 17. Making a detour to avoid a flooded mountain stream, a party of police and soldiers today completed the task of bringing out the bodies of the passengers and crew of the Lockheed plane which crashed on Mt. Richmond. The men set out at dawn today from Langley Dale sheep station, which has been the base of operations, and returned there at 2 p.m. Valuable assistance was provided by a settler, who took a dray as far up Timms Creek as possible. The bodies were conveyed to the roadhead, where motor transport was awaiting to take..;them to Nelson, which was reached this evening. The last stage of the undertaking Avas without incident, despite the difficult nature of the country. Rain storms, which caught the party on Friday night, abated late yesterday, and conditions today were good. The recovery of the bodies was one of the most protracted and difficult jobs undertaken by the police. Air reconnaisance located the crashed machine on Tuesday morning, and a party had been out since that afternoon.
