DAMAGING WORK
DONE BY AMERICAN PLANES DESTRUCTION OF JAPANESE MACHINES. DOCKS & SHIPPING BATTERED AT RANGOON. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, May 15. The Chungking radio says that a United Press correspondent from India related how American bombing planes destroyed or damaged 75 Japanese planes, suffering only one loss. In addition American bombers battered docks and shipping at Rangoon and the Japanese fleet at the Andaman Islands. The Bomber Command has solved the problem of getting Indians to work, by setting an example—toiling side by side with the natives. The Americans have established their own kitchens and these are the only places in India where apple pie can be found, or pancakes’ and syrup for breakfast.
