RETURNED SOLDIERS

ENTERTAINED AT DINNER. BY MASTERTON PATRIOTIC I COMMITTEES. Men Avho have returned from active service overseas were entertained, with their Avomenfolk, at dinner at the Midland Hotel last night by the Masterton and District Patriotic Committee and by the Women’s Patriotic Committee, In the absence of the Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, Mr R. E. Gordon Lee, chairmanof the Masterton County Council, presided. The guests were received by the Mayoress, Mrs Jordan, and by Mr Lee. The speakers Avere Mr Lee, Mr J. Robertson, M.P., Avho proposed the toast of the returned men, and Mr R. Whyborn. Messrs Knapp and Shirley replied on behalf of the guests.
