Y.M.C.A.

LADIES’ AUXILIARY. The monthly meeting of the Ladies’ Auxiliary was held in the Y.M.C.A., Mrs H. E. Pither presiding over a large attendance of members. Apologies were received from Mesdames Blackwood, Cottle, Fly, Gaze, Masters, Welch and Anstice. The following were nominated and elected from honorary members to active membership: Mesdames Doggett, Blake, Truscott, Downes, Whyte and Mrs Copp. A report on the dances held by the Ladies’ Auxiliary was most satisfactory. The treasurer’s report showed a favourable bank balance. Reports were read from the camp buffets organised by the Ladies’ Auxiliary, namely: Solway, Opaki,, Memorial, Mahunga and Central. In the event of th e number of boys coming to tea on Sunday night being too large for the organisation to cope with, the offer of anyone who would be willing to take two boys into their home for Sunday tea would be appreciated. Much appreciation was expressed to all organisations, who have so kindly catered for the Sunday • night teas. These teas are most popular and are thoroughly enjoyed by the large number of boys attending. The Auxiliary would be very grateful for the offers of any organisations wishing to put on a Sunday tea. Appreciation was also expressed to all those ladies who so ably assisted with canteen work and at the bakehouse. A decision was made that the meetings commence at 2 p.m. instead of 2.30 p.m. for the winter months. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Williams and Bull.
