PETROL & TIRES
ECONOMY IN UNITED STATES. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) WASHINGTON, May 13. One of the chief purposes of the petrol rationing in seventeen Eastern seaboard States, registration for which began today, is' to save tires. The Government revealed this tonight by appropriating 150 million dollars for the purchase of new and used tires in the possession of American automobile owners. The Price Administrator, Mr Leon Henderson, ruled today that Congressmen and Government officials using private cars to transact Government business are entitled to unlimited supplies of petrol.
