ARMY TRAINING
EMPHASIS ON OFFENSIVE IN U.S.A. FORMATION OF ADDITIONAL DIVISIONS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.0 a.m.) WASHINGTON, May 14. The Secretary of War, Mr H. L. Stimson, has announced that the Army has ordered the formation of four additional infantry divisions. This summer there would .be realistic field manoeuvres on a large scale, placing the emphasis on offensive tactics, stressing air and ground operations, desert fighting, jungle fighting and night manoeuvres. Mr Stimson said stress would also be placed on the effectiveness of small task forces. Every unit will be required to demonstrate its ability to march 25 miles on foot, with full equipment. At least onethird of the training will be at night.
