General Election Opposed.

Strong criticism of the Government’s intention to hold an election was voiced at the annual meeting of the Manawatu provincial executive of the Farmers’ Union in Palmerston North, the chairman, Mr H. J. McLeavey, saying it was a stupid and senseless act against which all should protest. Following a discussion it was decided to forward a remit to the union conference urging that a national Government be formed.
