The War Department has awarded decorations for courage, judgment and skill to eight officers and men for a hazardous and difficult flight, in a bomber, from Washington to Java, on an urgent and vital mission. At Palembang the plane and crew were bombed by the Japanese. Cross-, ing the Pacific they encountered severe electrical storms. The citations included Pilot Lieutenant Richard Kight, Co-Pilot Lieutenant Kenneth Akins, and navigators Lieutenant Allen and Second Lieutenant .John Moe.
