MASTERTON SALE BREEDING EWES SOUGHT AFTER. VALUES HIGHER. The Associated Auctioneers report as follows on their Masterton sale yesterday:— A big yarding of sheep came forward and we have to report a very good sale. The yarding comprised breeding ewes, wethers and lambs, all of which were of good quality. Some exceptionally good wethers and lambs; were offered. Ewes, r.w. S.D. rams were keenly sought after, and values were much higher than those ruling a month ago. More fat sheep than usual came forward and met with good competition. Practically a total clearance was ell'ected as' under: —Fat wethers, 26s to 29s Gel; fat ewes (heavy), 16s 6d to 18s; light, 12s 8d to 14s; fat lambs, 21s to 23s 6d; fat and forward 2-th. wethers, 25s 6d; store wethers, 23s to 245; w.f. wether lambs (very good), 19s (id to 20s 2d; medium lambs, 15s 6d to 17s; small, 9s to 10s; ewe lambs (medium), .16s to 18s 3d; small, 8s 6d to 9s; b.f. lambs, 16s to 18s 8d; medium, 12s to 13s 6d; ewe, r.w. S.D. ram, m.a„ 19s 7d to 22s 6d; f.m. ewes, 14s 8d to 16s. After the sale several horses were offered. Competition was keen for draughts, and the demand for good hacks was strong. Draught horses sold from £l2 10s to £29, and hacks from £l5 to £22 10s. PAHIATUA SALE A KEEN DEMAND. TheAssociatcd Auctioneers report as follows on their Pahiatua sale:—A large yarding of sheep and station cattle were offered to a good attendance of local and outside buyers. The demand in all sections was keen, and a total clearance was effected at auction at rates on a par with outside sales. The cattle penned were mostly good quality and a splendid line of 20-mos. dehorned Hereford steers on account of Mr J. R. Gardiner, of Kohinui, realising £8 10s. Realisations for all classes in this section were very good, bullocks and steers also selling well. A large entry of sheep, mainly wethers and ewes, and values were very. firm. A very nice line of 2-th ewes, account of Mr E. S.' Heckler, Makuri, topped the market in this section, realising 32s 6d. A special entry of hacks on account of Mrs E. Ward, met with a good market. Quotations:—Bullocks, £lO ss, £lO 2s 6d to £9 15s; 2>/ 2 -yr. steers, good, £9 12s, £9 10s to £9 ss; others, £9 to £8 7s 6d; 20-mos. steers, good, £8 10s, £8 to £7 10s; others, £7 5s to £6 19s; P.A. cows, £6 to £4 10s; 2>/ 2 -yr. P.A. heifers, £6 7s to £5 10s; 20-mos. heifers, £5 2s to £3 18s; vealprs, £3 17s to £3; fat bullocks, £l2 to £ll 10s; fat P.A. cows, £8 12s Gd to £6 10s; fat heifers, £lO to £6 10s; fat cows, exdairy, £5 17s 6d to £4 IQs. Sheep: Fat wethers. 29s Id. 28s l()d. 28s 7d to 265; fat b.f. 2-ths., 28s lOd, 26s 2d to 24s Id; fat ewes, 225, 19s Bd, 19s, 18s, to 13s 6d; 2-th. ewes, 32s 6d. 28s 4d. 26s to 225; 4-yr. ewes, 265, to 225; 5-yr. ewes, 21s, 20s to 17s 2d; aged ewes. 16s to Ils 4d; w. lambs, good, 19s 2d, IBs 6d to 17s 6d; others, 16s 6d to 12s 3d; b.f. lambs, 17s 2d to 12s 7d. Horses: 2-yr, filly, £l9; aged gelding, £2O; 4-yr, gelding, £l4 10s; 5-yr. mare £l9; 7-yr. mare, £l2; 4-yr. mare, £18; bay gelding, £11; 3-yr. filly, £l3; filly, £7; pony, £l5 10s.
