WRECKED PLANE
FOUND ON MITRE PEAK MISSING SINCE JANUARY. BODIES OF TWO OCCUPANTS IN MACHINE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. An aircraft of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, reported missing on a training flight on January 14 last, has been found in a wrecked condition at Mitre Peak, in the Tararua Ranges, near Masterton. The bodies of the crew of two were discovered with the wrecked machine. The occupants of the machine were: Leading Aircraftman Ronald Alfred Walter Abrahams, R.N.Z.A.F. (next-of-kin, father, Flight Sergeant W. A. Abrahams, Royal Nev? Zealand Air Force). Leading Aircraftman James Edgar Norman Corin. R.N.Z.A.F. (next-of-kin, wife, Mrs W. H. Corin, WA2, Women's Auxiliary Air Force). The wrecked aircraft was discovered by Mr M. Trass. A search party proceeded to the locality and found the aircraft after an extremely difficult journey through heavy bush and over mountainous country. It is stated that it is impossible at present to recover the bodies of the airmen owing to the inaccessibility of the place where the plane lies. No information could be obtained today as to whether it was intended that an inquest should be held.
