The following official weather report and forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon today:— DISTRICT FORECAST: Fresh to strong north-westerly winds, decreasing tonight and turning to fresh southerlies during 'tomorrow. Weather cloudy, with scattered rain, chiefly in ranges, but more general rain with wind change. Temperatures becoming cooler. FURTHER OUTLOOK: Cool, changeable and showery. LOCAL REPORT. Mr N. W. Towns reports as follows for Ihc 24 hours ended 8 a.m. today:— Barograph, 30.15; shade temperature, maximum 71.4, minimum 52.6; terrestrial, 43; sunshine, 6 hours 30 minutes; rain. 2 points. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that 5 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today. PHASES OF THE MOON—May: Full moon, May 1; last quarter, May 7; new moon, May 15; first quarter, May 23; full moon, May 30. Draw blinds at 6 p.m. today; raise them at 6.44 a.m. tomorrow.
