RECENT TAX INCREASE TO OPERATE AFTER MAY 10. ANNOUNCEMENT BY MINISTER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The increase in the national security tax from Is to Is 6d in the pound, making a combined charge of 2s 6d in the pound, will apply to all salaries and wages derived in respect of any period after May 10, and to all instalments of combined charge that become due o nor after May 1, 1942, according to a statement last night by the Acting-Minister in charge of Land and Income Tax, Mr Nordmeyer. The Minister said legislation to this effect would be introduced today, and meanwhile his statement would assist those who wished to make up wagesheets or pay instalments of the social security charge and national security tax.
