STATE THEATRE
“GAY FALCON.”
“Gay Falcon” will be finally shown tonight.
“FATHER TAKES A WIFE.”
Adolph Menjou takes the leading part in “Father Takes a Wife,” which will be shown tomorrow night. “Father Takes a Wife” is sophisticated comedy which brings Gloria Swanson back to the screen. There was a time when Wallace Reid and William Farnum and Gloria Swanson were the Robert Taylors and Claudette Colberts of the cinema world. Death and talkies and time overtook them and they dropped from view. But Gloria Swanson, after a lapse of 10 years or more, proves that she was more than a mere clothes peg by returning in a comedy of the most riotous order. The story is simple—a middle-aged actress marries a widower with a grown-up family. The arrangement does not work. There will also be shown an excellent cartoon, “Donald’s Vacation.”
