The dance held in the State Theatre each Saturday evening continues to be well patronised, and last Saturday there was a good attendance, a most enjoyable time being spent by those present. MILK SUPPLY DECREASE IN YIELD. The dairy factories in the district report a decrease in supplies. Some of the assistants have ceased work until the new season opens. Carterton School. The monthly meeting of the newlyelected Carterton District High School Committee will be held tonight in the school, Holloway Street. Beautiful Sea Shells. Mr W. Moroney, who has recently returned from a holiday spent in the vicinity of White and Mayor islands, brought back with him three beautiful and rare sea shells which are found ( only in the vicinity of these islands. Overseas authorities consider these shells among the rarest in the world. Personal Items. Carterton residents will regret to learn of the death on May 1 at Lower Hutt, at the age of 67 years, of Mr I James Hastings Churchill, a former resident of Carterton. Mr and Mrs J. C. Harp, of Belvedere Street, have received a letter from their son, Private Tom Harp, stating that he had been with other Wairarapa soldiers transferred from Egypt to Syria. It was, stated the writer, a pleasure to see green grass again after the drab sandy wastes. Hockey. A large number of lady hockby players turned out on Carrington Park on Saturday and an excellent practice was held. The conditions on the playing area were not of the best, and it is hoped that before the next practice is held the long grass will have been cut and the field put in order. REGENT THEATRE “PHILADELPHIA STORY.” . Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn and James Stewart have the leading roles in the splendid drama, “Philadelphia Story,” which will be shown tonight.
