TURKISH RULING

NEUTRAL SHIPS WITHHELD FROM AXIS. PROHIBITION OF SALE. (British Official Wireless.) ~ RUGBY, May 2. The Turkish authorities in Istanbul have given an important ruling affecting shipping in the port. They have decided that a Panamanian oil ship owned by an Iranian who contemplated selling the vessel to Germany, must not be sold because as a result of special war time conditions, the ship was not private property, but belonged to a South American State. This ruling affects another 25 ships in Turkish harbours, and; it is thought, prevented the possibility that the Axis might acquire them for use in the Black Sea.
