HOT WATER BAGS

SALE TO CHEMISTS ONLY. REGULATIONS GAZETTED. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A notice gazetted last evening restricts the retail s.ale of hot water bags to pharmaceutical' chemists only, and then only on an order of a registered medical practitioner. Stocks held by retailers other than chemists are frozen till further notice and must not be sold. Another notice requires that declarations of stocks of hot water bags held by all persons for wholesale and retail sale are to be furnished to the Medical* % Supplies Controller at the Head Office of the Department of Health, Wellington, on,or before May 7. These declarations are required from wholesale drug houses, chemists, drapers, storekeepers, hardware merchants and any other vendors of hot water"bags. ~ The Minister of Supply and Munitions, Mr Sullivan, said that in recent statements he had drawn attention to the acute shortage of rubber for manufacture, and it was because of this shortage and the uncertainty of future supplies of rubber that action had been taken in regard to hot water bags. The public would realise that .if there was going to be a shortage of hot water ba ps those available must necessarily be reserved for use in hospitals and lor sick people in the first instance.
