WEDDING

HEGINBOTHAM—TAPLIN. (“Times-Age” Special.) The marriage took place recently at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Carterton, of Ebbel, only daughter of Mr and Mrs F. H. Taplin, Carterton, to Sergeant Sidney Stewart Heginbotham, eldest son of Mr and Mrs W. Heginbotham, of Waverley. The officiating minister was the Rev. W. F. Stent, and Mrs Bath presided at the organ. The bride entered the church escorted by her father, and looked charming in a gown of magnolia satin with a long full train, the bodice being draped with hand-made point lace (a family heirloom) to form a bolero. Her beautiful embroidered tulle veil was held in place by a halo of cream lilies, and fell in soft folds, over the train. She carried 'a beautiful sheath of cream loses, dahlias, gladioli and asparagus fern, with a touch of scarlet in the centre. Miss Nancy Heginbotham (sister of the bridegroom) was bridesmaid and looked charming in a blue taffeta frock and net headdress, with a spray of flowers and touches of scarlet. She also carried a sheath of roses, dahlias and gladioli to match. The bridegroom was attended by Sergeant J. MacManus, of Waiouru. The usher was Mr Ralph Raynor. After the ceremony about 70 guests were entertained in St. Mark’s Hall. The bride's mother, assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, received the guests. Mrs Taplin wore an amethyst shot taffeta frock with navy hat and fur cape, and carried a posy of mauve asters to tone. Mrs Heginbotham wore a brown frock and fur coat with hat to match- and a shoulder spray of gold chrysanthemums to tone.

During the signing of the register Miss V. Sorensen gave a beautiful rendering of “O Promise Me.” The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a beautiful morocco handbag and to the bridesmaid a beautiful gold locket and neck chain. The bride’s gift to the bridegroom was a leather money belt.

Sergeant arid Mrs Heginbotham left later for the north on their honeymoon, Mrs Heginbotham travelling in an air force blue costume with embroidered blouse, grey fur coat and navy accessories.
