ALFREDTON
AIRMAN ENTERTAINED ' PRESENTATION MADE. ("Times-Age” Special.) An enjoyable evening was spent on Monday when the residents of Alfredton and surrounding districts gathered to entertain Sergeant Pilot K. Groves. The evening was spent in dancing, for which Mrs G. Houlbrooke supplied the music. On behalf of the residents, Mr R. Kebbell presented Sergeant Pilot Groves with a set of brushes. In doing so Mr Kebbell mentioned the kindness of Mrs Groves, Senr., who had given a parcel of warm clothing to every soldiei’ who had left the district. Sergeant Pilot Groves suitably responded. Cheers were then called for the parents of both Mrs Groves and Sergeant Pilot Groves, who were present. A dainty supper was provided by the ladies of the district. Mr R. Low acted as M.C. Anzac Service. The Anzac service was held in the Public Hall, the speakers being the Revs. McNeur and Williams. The W.W.S.A. and Home Guard were .on parade at the hall. Personal. Mr C. Hartley is visiting relatives in Carterton.
