FIVE AXIS SHIPS

SUNK BY SUBMARINES FOUR IN MEDITERRANEAN. ONE OFF COAST OF NORWAY. LONDON, April 28. Five more Axis ships have been sunk by British submarines —four in the Mediterranean and one off the coast of Norway, in the vicinity of Trondheim. In the Mediterranean a heavilyladen supply ship, probably carrying ammunition, was sunk by torpedo and an armed petrol-carrier, flying the German naval ensign was successfully attacked by gunfire and was left abandoned and burning fiercely. A large schooner and an enemy mine-sweeper have also been sunk in this area. The British submarine Trident torpedoed and sank a large enemy supply ship off the Norwegian coast. During the dash of the German warships from Brest the Trident put a torpedo into a warship of the Prince Eugen class.
