Mrs Lennox Lamb, of Herbert Street, Masterton, is visiting the Chateau Tongariro. Mrs Taggart, of Petone, who has been the guest of Mrs Caldwell, Hessey Street, returned home today. The Misses Camcron, Cole Street. Masterton, are staying with Mrs E. P. Cameron, Pahaoa, Hinakura. Miss I. McCaul, 'Wellington, ’.s spending a few days with Mrs Dodds, Pownall Street, Masterton. Miss N. Caldwell, of Wellington, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs W. T. L. Hedley, of Pihautea, Featherston, has returned home. The engagement is announced of Delia Terese (Betty), only daughter of Mr and Mrs V. B. Turner, Waitata Bay, Pelorus Sounds, to Patrick Owen, eldest son of Mr and Mrs P. Hamill, Masterton.
Mr J. G. Blake, senior telegraphist at the Masterton Post Office for the past seven years, left yesterday on transfer to the Greymouth Post Office. He has been replaced in Masterton by Mr R. W. Coleman, of Wellington. Mr George Davison, Sent’.. Palmerston North, the oldest original pioneer of the Manawatu district, celebrated his 100th birthday on Saturday last, the occasion being marked by a family gathering. Congratulations wore received from his Majesty the King, the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, the Gover-nor-General, Sir C. Newall, and others.
