SMALL BATTLES

CONTINUOUS ON EASTERN FRONT LOCAL SUCCESSES GAINED BY SOVIET. CONSIDERABLE ENEMY LOSSES. ' LONDON, April 26. There is no news of big scale fighting on the Russian front, but the Soviet Government reports further local successes. The advance of the Soviet army continues on the Kalinin front, where nearly 3,000 Germans have been wiped out in the last three days. The Moscow radio says 1000 Germans were killed when three German infantry regiments attacked on a sector on the Smolensk front. Another message says Soviet cavalry have been operating in the enemy’s rear and have liberated a large number of villages. They are being constantly reinforced by the local population.
