EKETAHUNA

RED CROSS SOCIETY ANNUAL MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Eketahuna subbranch of the Red Cross Society, which was held in the Borough Chambers on April 22. Mr M. Priest presided. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Simmers, Sutherland, A. J. Perry, J. P. Petersen, D. Fraser, W. Williams, Sister Dorset and Miss Murray-Aynsley. The society was congratulated on the excellent report and balance sheet submitted.

The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron, Mr F. White; president, Mr M. Priest; vice-presidents, Mrs W. Olsen, Mrs D. Fraser and Mr L. Houlbrooke; secretary, Mrs W. D. Scott; treasurer, Mrs I. Cross; committee, Mrs Elines, Waterreus, Bouzaid, McAllister, Gallagher, C. Cooper and Miss B. Curry; ex-officio members, Dr. Simmers, Sister Dorset, Miss C. Wilson (commandant) and Miss H. Fraser .(assistant commandant).

The country districts were left to appoint their own members to go on the committee and submit their names to the Eketahuna secretary. Mr M. Shale was re-elected auditor and a vote of thanks was accorded to him for his past services.

Mr Priest gave a report on the annual meeting held at Masterton. It was resolved that Mrs Simmers’s resignation as a member of the committee be received with regret, and a record be made of her valuable past services. A vote of thanks was passed, to all country and townspeople for their generous support in all the Society’s undertakings. Thanks were also accorded to the Press, and to the Borough Council for the use of the Council rooms. After the meeting the secretary entertained the committee at supper.
