PACIFIC THEATRE

. AS VITAL AS RUSSIA VIEWS OF THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT. EMPHASISED BY WASHINGTON EMBASSY. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) WASHINGTON, April 23. The Chinese Embassy has issued an official statement repudiating Press reports that China has agreed that the United Nations must defeat Hitler before focusing their strength against Japan. The statement says: “China insists that the world struggle is indivisible and overemphasis on one front at the expense of another would produce undesirable political and military repercussions. The Chinese appreciate the importance that Britain and America attach to the Russian front but feel that the Pacific is equally vital and its neglect would be disastrous for all.”
