WHEAT HARVESTING
EQUIPMENT IN WAIRARAPA. AMPLE TO HANDLE INCREASED ACREAGE. “In case there should be any misunderstandings regarding the available threshing facilities in the Wairarapa as a result of my recent offer to act an intermediary between those with the equipment and those who lack it, ’ states Mr N. Lamont. Department of Agriculture, Masterton, “I would like to emphasise that there are more than enough threshing mills in the district to handle the produce of our declared aim of 3000 acres. “There are actually seventeen threshing plants in the district and with little or no stacking these could probably handle 5000 acres of wheat, even allowing for other demands such as oats, grass seed, etc. If some wheat is put into stack there would, of course, be practically no limit to the acreage that could be handled by our present plant. “The district as a whole is, therefore, thoroughly equipped in respect to harvesting facilities and where deficiences exist in individual cases arrangements can readily be made for assistance to be made available.”
