VOLUNTARY PURCHASE
OF AMERICAN WAR BONDS. PREFERRED BY MR MORGENTHAU (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.0 a.m.) WASHINGTON, April 16. The Secretary of the Treasury, Mr H. Morgenthau, told the Press today that the administration still prefers voluntary rather than enforced purchase of war bonds, the sale of which soared after the Pearl Harbour attack, to reach the peak of a billion dollars in January, but falling to half of that amount since March.
