CIVIL DEFENCE
REORGANISED* IN U.S.A. LINK WITH WAR AND NAVY DEPARTMENTS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 10 a.m.) WASHINGTON, April 16. President Roosevelt reorganised the Office of Civilian Deefnce today, retaining Director Landis, but creating a Civilian Defence Board, to advise and assist him. On this board will be representatives of the War and Navy Departments. A White House statement said the reorganisation was designed to integrate the activities of the Office of Civilian Defence more closely with other war agencies geared to war effort. Recently Mr La Guardia, who was the first Director of the Office of Civilian Defence, strongly criticised Mr Landis because of a serious lag in the actual civilian defence preparations.
