SALE AT ADDINGTON STORE SHEEP VALUES INCREASE. FAT SHEEP PRICES DEARER. (By Telegraph—t-ress Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, April 15. Store sheep rose in value at the Addington market today, two-tooths and aged sheep appreciating up to Is 6d a head. Fat sheep were also Is a head dearer. Fat cattle were a shade easier, mainly because of the bigger yarding. The demand in the store sheep section was very good, the best price for two-tooths being 40s, other lines from the same source running from 36s 6d to 39s 9d. Halfbred twotooths made 18s 9d to 255. Top price for agod ewes was 28s, medium to good making to 17s 6d, and inferior from 8s to 11s. Wethers sold well to a top price of 25s 9d. Store lambs sold well, wethers at up to 21s Id, and ewe lambs 22s 3d to 22s 9d. Best rape lambs made to 19s 6d, and medium to good 14s 6d to 16s 3d. For heavy wethers prices showed a rise of about Is a head. Values of freezing ewes were unchanged. Butchers’ ewes were in keen demand prices being up by fully Is a head. Young ewes were keenly sought after. Wethers sold at 25s to 33s lOd, ewes 16s to 28s, and export ewes 13s to 16s. Fat lambs sold on a par with last week, good quality being in keen demand, exporters buying at from 23s 9d to 265, and butchers at 27s 6d to 355. The best price of the sale was 37s 6d for eight of a line of 80 which averaged 31s 3d. „ x j • A big entry of fat cattle was reflected in a slight easing of prices. Steers sold from £lO 15s to £l9 7s 6d, heifers from £6 5s to £ll 10s, and cows from £3 10s to £lO ss. In the fat pig section, the porker entry was the largest for months. Values showed an easing. Choppers were unchanged and inferior baconers were down 2s to 3s a head. Choppers sold to £4 13s 6d, porkers from 43s 6d to £3 6s 6d (average per lb. 7d to S’Ad), baconers £3 2s 6d to £3 8s «d (average 6>/ 2 d to 7>/ 2 d).
MASTERTON SALE RISE IN SHEEP PRICES. LATE RATES FOR CATTLE. The Associated Auctioneers report on their weekly Masterton sale held yesterday as follows:—A large entry of sheep and several pens of store and fat cattle came forward and met with spirited competition from a good attendance of buyers. The majority of the yarding consisted of good forward condition wethers and b.f. and w.f. wethei’ lambs all these were keenly sought after making prices well in advance of those ruling at last sale. Good forward condition wethers realised from 24s to 25s 6d while b.f. lambs brought 19s Id. A line of good woolly wether lambs made 20s, and a line of well grown shorn w.f. wether lambs 19s 2d. In the fat sheep section there was also a large entry and both fat ewes and fat wethers showed a sharp rise, good fat ewes making from 16s lOd to 18s and fat wethers to 265. The demand for cattle was good and prices were well up to those ruling of late. A total clearance was effected under the hammer and the following list of principal sales will indicate values: — Sheep: Fat wethers 265, light do 24s 6d to 255, b.f. 2th ewes 20s 9d, heavy fat ewes 16s 6d, 16s lOd. 17s 6d to 18s, light fat do 13s, 13s 6d to 14s 3d, good woolly wether lambs 17s 6d, 17s Bd, 18s to 20s, medium do 13s, 14s to 15s 3d, culls 10s to Ils, shorn w.f. wether lambs 16s 17s to 19s, medium do 14s to 14s 9d, small do 10s to Ils, medium woolly ewe lambs 17s 3d, good condition b.f. lambs 17s 6d, 17s lOd, 18s 7d to 19s 2d, fwd. condition 2th and 4th wethers 24s to 25s 6d, store condition do 22s 6d, 23s to 23s 9d, fattening 'ewes 9s 4d. Cattle: Light fat P.A. cows £7 Is to £7 13s, light fat P.A. heifers £7 10s, fat Jersey heifers £5 15s to £6 3s 6d. fat Jersey calves £4 15s to £5 15s, coloured steers £6 19s, medium P.A. steers( 2yr, £7 15s, coloured cows and and calves £5. coloured store cows £3 10s, empty P.A. cows £6 ss. Pigs: Weaners 7s, Bs. 10s, to Ils, slips 13s, 14s, to 19s, store pigs 21s. PAHIATUA SALE A KEEN DEMAND. The Associated Auctioneers report as follows in connection with the Pahiatua sale:— A medium yarding of sheep were offered to i small attendance of the local and outside buyers. The demand was keen in all sections, wethers in particular attracting buyers. We report a total clearance at auction. A medium yarding of pigs offered sold at late rates. Quotations. —Ewes: 14s 9d to 12s 9d, b.f. lambs (good) 17s 6d to 16s 2d, medium b.f. lambs 15s 6d to 13s 9d, shorn w. lambs (extra good) 19s 2d, shorn w. lambs 15s to 10s Gd, w.w. lambs 16s 15s 6d to 13s 9d, small 12s 4d to 10s, cull lambs 9s, 8s 6d to 3s Id. fat and fwd. wethers 23s 9d, 22s 7d, fat wethers 255.
